Introduction

Dear all,

Through this newsletter we wish to provide information that is important to you. What with all the developments in the market and the changes in customs and phytosanitary legislation, it seemed to us a good idea to inform you about current issues by means of a regular newsletter.

We hope that you find this newsletter useful and that you will enjoy reading them.
We will also be happy to hear your suggestions and/or subjects that you would like to see come up for discussion! Naturally we will always be prepared to visit you personally and you’re most welcome to come and view our facilities at Schiphol.

Kind regards,

On behalf of the management,
Moniek van de Put

Ocean Freight Department

Ocean Freight Department

The Ocean Freight department would like to introduce itself to you through this newsletter.
Some of you will already know of our existence, but unfortunately there still seem to be customers that are not aware of the fact that J. van de Put FCH BV also has an Ocean Freight department. Yes indeed, it really does exist, and not only that, it also has the know-how required to handle and deal with all your Ocean Freight in a fitting manner.
Since we’re a relatively young department within J. van de Put FCH BV, there follows a short introduction. The Ocean Freight department would like to introduce itself to you through this newsletter.

J. van de Put Fresh Cargo Handling BV has been around for about 33 years now and started as an air freight agent for the importation of (primarily) flowers, plants, etc. This underwent rapid expansion with the addition of an export and transit department.
In view of the fact that most growers abroad regularly need cargo from the Netherlands – such as machinery, packaging material, greenhouse construction – and that this is expensive to send by air, demand for Ocean Freight within Van de Put was constantly on the increase. The Ocean Freight department has now been around for about 6 years. The department comprises 3 people and we take care of dealing with all Ocean Freight, so not only import/export, crosstrade, standard containers but also reefer containers and controlled-atmosphere containers. We also take care of LCL (less than container load) worldwide, import and export. We handle the entire end-to-end process ourselves, from quote to preparing the invoice. Thus you’re always dealing with the same 3 people, whatever your question may be. We can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In order to give you an indication, we deal with some 2,000 containers each year (import), and in addition to this ship around 1,000 containers to other parts of the world (reefer containers, but also dry containers). We have good contact with virtually all shipping companies, and as a result of this are able to buy at extremely competitive rates.

Here we would like to introduce you to the people behind the Ocean Freight department:

Phytosanitary inspection too late?

Phytosanitary inspection too late?

We are keen to draw your attention to the option of having your shipment inspected by us. Even if shipments are usually inspected at your own site, it can sometimes be useful to have us inspect them too.
When a shipment is too late to make inspection at your site, this would normally entail having to leave shipment until the following morning and not being able to process the consignment. It could be that we are having a late inspection. In such cases you’ll receive the shipment ‘inspected’ and you can have it after all!
The same holds for weekends. It can be useful to have us inspect your shipment on a Saturday, enabling you to have your shipment straightaway on Sunday. This way you don’t have to wait for the inspection service to come and inspect your consignment.
If you wish to make use of this, please get in touch with one of the gentlemen in our import management department, i.e. Edwin Böning, Gijs Schouten, Edwin Rozendaal, Bas Nuwenhof or Louis Berrevoets.
Telephone: +31 (0)88-4055050, e-mail: importmanagement@vandeput.nl.

Track & Trace

Track & Trace

Want to follow your shipment from landing to delivery over the Internet???
Yes, you can! Our track & trace system, by means of which you can log in with your own credentials and follow your consignment from its arrival at Schiphol, has been active since July. This highly elaborate system offers suppliers, growers and importers the opportunity to follow the online status of shipments, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Upon arrival at J. van de Put Fresh Cargo Handling, all shipments are provided with a barcode. This enables you to follow the shipment’s status up to the point of delivery to the customer.
Details regarding delayed shipments, temperatures that are too high on arrival or the non-arrival of partial (less than container load) consignments can be found on the website as well. You can view shipments already processed from up to 14 days ago and watch today’s arrivals live.

For further information, please see our website or get in touch with our Import Management department directly. Telephone: +31 (0)88-4055050, e-mail: importmanagement@vandeput.nl.

Company visit

Company visit

There is always the option of paying our company a visit for a presentation and a guided tour. Recently we received visits from (for example) a trade delegation from Kenya and a large international delegation from the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. On the occasion of the National Chrysanthemum Day we gave a tour and presentation to a group of 200 people. In the near future we’ll be receiving visits from (for example) a delegation from Florida and the Young Network Group.

If you are interested in visiting our company, please get in touch with Hanja de Boer, hdeboer@vandeput.nl.
